According to Suu Kyi, she told her lawyers “The NLD was founded for the people and it will exist as long as these people are there."

Suu has been in detention for at least 4 months ever since the Myanmar Junta overthrew her election and took rule in Myanmar.

On April 13th San Suu had asked the Myanmar court to accept a meeting with her lawyers in person since her freedom to meet her lawyers had been denied ever since she was arrested on February 1st after the November 2020 general elections.

She has been under police custody since the coup and is charged with various offenses. These include violating a colonial-era official secrets act that could see her jailed for 14 years.
She was also charged with illegally possessing two-way radios and violating coronavirus pandemic protocols alongside bribery.

The 75-year-old leader has been leading Myanmar’s struggle against military rule for decades. This earned her  Nobel Peace Prize in 1991.
