Ngatia seeks the gubernatorial position under the jubilee party and is expected to face off Ann Kananu and Agnes Kagure in the party nominations.

It is not yet clear if the jubilee party will issue a direct ticket or it will go for the party primaries.

The former Kenya National Chambers of Commerce boss will be expected to face off other gubernatorial aspirants from the Azimio La Umoja coalition who include Ben Mulwa of Wiper and Tim Wanyonyi of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Speaking at the launch that happened In Kangemi, Ngatia promised that he would use his business acumen to transform the county in terms of capital and youth unemployment.

“Nyinyi vijana kila ward tutawapea machine kumi kutegeneza cabro na sisi kama county tutazinua tujenge mabarabara nazo,” Ngatia said.

The event was also attended by Former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki who is assured to be Ngatia’s running mate in the gubernatorial race.

Kaloki, who had earlier on announced that he would run for the Makueni gubernatorial position, dropped down his bid to support Ngatia.

In what is viewed as ironical, Kaloki is backing up Ngatia’s bid under the Wiper party which has already given a direct ticket to Ben Mulwa to run for the Nairobi top seat.

The Azimio Coalition has not yet announced whether or not there will be party primaries or there will be a consensus to back up one of the aspirants under the coalition.

Wanyonyi, who is running under ODM’s Ticket had maintained that he would not drop his political ambitions for anyone.

I want to be clear that a lot of discussion is going on but nothing has changed. Tim remains the solid candidate for ODM,” Wanyonyi said.

After Deputy President William Ruto hammered out an agreement that relegated Bishop Margaret Wanjiru to contest for the Nairobi senate seat, Johnson Sakaja of Kenya Kwanza was given the green light to fly the UDA flag in Nairobi.

Sakaja will be expected to battle the position with the candidate from the Azimio side.
