Details seen by Bright Kenya News indicate that acting Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu signed the Nairobi City County Public Nuisance Bill, 2021 into law, which contains the new rules.

Under the new law, blowing one's nose in the city without a handkerchief or tissue paper is prohibited, as is urinating in undesignated locations, spitting on the streets, and sleeping in kitchens or grocery stores.

Discharge of dirty water, sewer, or effluent into streets or water channels, as well as the discharge of oils into roads or water channels and the obstruction of roads or streets, are all prohibited.

The new law also prohibits residents from allowing trees and hedges in their homes or places of work to obstruct streets or footpaths, further criminalizing riding motorcycles or driving on footpaths, playing loud music, and smoking in undesignated places.

Acting Governor Kananu further urged Nairobi citizens to familiarize themselves with the new law to prevent being taken off guard.
