Kituyi resigned as the UNCTAD's 7th Secretary-General, in attempts to focus on his presidential aspirations ahead of his 2022 race to the statehouse

Nations Applaud Mukhisa Kituyi Over His Amazing Leadership at UNCTAD

Outgoing Secretary-General for the UNCTAD Mukhisa Kituyi has received praises for his excellent leadership. Kituyi is set to resign from his role by February 15, 2021.

The latter considered a resignation as he seeks to focus his attention on his race to become the next president after Kenyatta's tenure ends in 2022.

Following his decision, the member nations appreciated Kituyi's selfless efforts in pushing the organization to greater heights, during his leadership that lasted for close to eight years.

During his leadership, Mukhisa championed for development, equality, and poverty eradication among others. Speaking over his exit, several member nations stated that Mukhisa always remained true to the organization's word.

He had travelled to various nations where he met various presidents and other state officials, in efforts to get first-hand information over what really affected the nations. 

European Union at the same time echoed Kituyi over his unwavering support towards all developing nations facing various challenges. Mukhisa's concern for the less fortunate nations was also evident especially following the Covid-19 pandemic. 

In his farewell speech, Kituyi himself expressed his gratitude member states for the endless support all throughout his tenure. He exits the UNCTAD as the 7th Secretary-General.
