Memphis Grizzlies will face off with Utah Jazz in the quarter finals of NBA play-offs after edging Golden State Warriors 117 – 112 in the play-in tournament.

The thrilling match which went to overtime saw Ja Morant score 35 points for Grizzlies which included a two pointer with four seconds remaining. Stephen Curry gave the Warriors 39 points despite of the defeat. This win for the Grizzlies helped them reach play-offs for the first time in four seasons.

After the stunning performance, the jubilant Morant said: “I like it when the pressure is on. I got all the confidence in the world in my game.”

The game which was played at the Chase Center in California went to overtime courtesy of the Warriors having overcome a 17 point deficit.

“It is a very tough way to end it, coming down to the wire and us giving everything we had in the tank. It is frustrating that this is the end and this is how we are going out.” said the 33 year old Curry.

In a bid to determine the seventh and eight position for the play-offs in Eastern and Western Conferences, the NBA introduced play-in tournament for the season 2020/21.

The play-offs for the Eastern and Western Conferences respectively are scheduled to be played this Saturday, 22nd May 2021. In the first game, Milwaukee Bucks will play Miami Heats at 9:00 pm EAT. LA Clippers will take on Dallas Mavericks in the last game of the day at 11:30 pm EAT.
