Nyong'o Grieves Hockey Olympic Star Parminder Saini

The Governor of Kisumu Anyang’ Nyong’o has mourned former Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) vice-chairman and Kenya Olympian hockey legend who passed away in Kisumu hospital on Sunday night.

Governor Nyong’o described ‘Kake’ as he was popularly recognized by many as a sports icon and sent his condolence to the family and friends.

“I wish to convey my sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the entire sports fraternity in Kisumu and the country,” the governor said in a statement.

Kake captained the lethal Kisumu Hockey Union Club to be the top hockey team in Kenya earning him a spot in the national team to the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles and Seoul, South Korea in 1988.

“Kake played one of his best games ever during the Olympics, his humility and the magic hockey stick put Kisumu on the international map. He mentored many young hockey players and always stood tall among his peers.” said the Governor.
