Aston Villa celebrate Kortney Hause winner against Manchester United.

Not even CR7 could rescue the sinking ship as Aston Villa edged Manchester United courtesy of a Kortney Hause goal to mark their first victory against the Red Devils in a span of 12 years.

All eyes were on new signing Cristiano Ronaldo who has racked up 4 goals in his last 3 competitive games. CR7 looked to continue his brilliant form and he almost added to his tally in the 10th min after receiving a pass from fellow countryman Bruno Fernandes only to fire wide 30 yards away.

The game headed off to HT deadlock but that wasn't to worry United fans as 7 of 9 goals they've scored in the OT came in the second half.

After the break Ollie Watkins had a clear cut chance to send Villa ahead but David De Gea responded instinctively to deny the Englishman after he had manoeuvred through the Red Devils defence.

Villa defended with their lives and in the 88th min Douglas Luiz whipped in a delicious ball and Kortney Hause headed it into the corner.

More drama unfolded and in the 90+3 min, United were awardes a penalty. Designated penalty taker Bruno stood up to the plate but sent the ball over the bar, sending fans into a frenzy.

The win sails Villa to 7th  place with 10 points and marks their first victory against United since December 2009.

Meanwhile Man United sit 4th with 13 points on level with position 1,2 and 3( Liverpool, City and Chelsea respectively) however Liverpool have a game in hand and face Brentford later on.
