The Council of Governors CoG has assured that the scheduled 7th Annual Devolution Conference will not be interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision follows a multi-agency consultative meeting that was held on Wednesday between the council, the Ministry of Devolution, and the Ministry of Health.

The conference will be held from August 23-26th, 2021 at the Makueni Boys High School with the theme Multi-Level Governance for Climate Action.

In a statement, the council said that it is working with MoH towards ensuring strict adherence to Covid protocols.

“To actualize this, the COG in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Makueni County has rolled out a massive vaccination drive. Currently, there is an ongoing vaccination drive at COG offices to ensure that all registered delegates are fully vaccinated,” CoG said.

The conference shall adopt the dialogue approach through a panel discussion followed by plenary engagements which will consist of main plenums and 14 sector breakaway sessions.

The conference will be attended by 1,000 delegates, who per the council will be have been vaccinated before the conference starts.

To ensure that the protocols set by MoH are followed, there will be no onsight registration.

Instead, it will be carried out online, which will be closed on August 17.

The County Government of Makueni will increase their ICU and HDU bed capacity for emergency support.
