Pep Guardiola named the League Managers’ Association manager of the year.

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has received an award for the Manager of the Year from the League Managers’ Association.

Guardiola defeated Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds), Daniel Farke (Norwich), Emma Hayes (Chelsea Women), David Moyes (West Ham) and Brendan Rodgers (Leicester) to emerge the winner and take the award.

The 50 year old manager received the award for his exemplary performance this season where he led Man City to win the third Premier League title since joining the club, winning Carabao Cup and leading his side reach their first Champions League final.

The award which managers voted saw Guardiola win it for the second time having won it in 2017/18 season for City’s performance that season where they became the first English club to win the league with 100 points in one season.

Guardiola was happy to win the award and lauded his players for their dedication and professionalism this season.

“I am delighted to win this award for the second time, but an award like this is only possible if a manager is surrounded by top professionals. My players have been fantastic, their dedication and professionalism never waver, even in a season that has been the most challenging we have ever faced,” said Guardiola.

He also praised his staff and said that he was lucky to have worked with them and that the award belongs to them for their work.

“And my staff are also deserving of the highest praise. I am so lucky to have a team of people who give everything they have every single day to make sure Manchester City are the best we can be. This award is dedicated to and shared with them.”

The Spanish national joined Manchester City in the year 2016 on a three year contract. He has led the club to win three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, Three Carabao Cups and two FA Community Shields. His current contract expires in the year 2023 having renewed it in November last year.

The best Managers of the Year in Championship, League one and two were Daniel Furk (Norwich City), Grant McCann (Hull City) and Michael Duff (Cheltenham) respectively.

Chelsea’s Women club manager Emma Hayes won the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Manager of the Year, while her counterpart Jonathan Morgan was rewarded for leading Leicester Women to win Championship title.

Liverpool legend and Scotland’s Rangers club coach Steven Gerrard won the LMA Special Achievement Award for leading his club to win the Scottish league with an unbeaten record.
