According to the DCI, the suspect and his two companion engaged the police officers from Huruma police station in a brief chase before he was arrested.

The suspect was taken into custody by the police as he must respond to allegations of robbery with violence.

"Detectives based at Huruma police station are currently processing the suspect for arraignment," DCI said.

In another incident, police in Kilimani detained a suspect they describe as a frequent offender, after being caught on CCTV committing a crime on Monday.

The suspect, according to the police, is connected to other recent robbery instances that have occurred in the city.

"The suspect who is an ex-convict took the officers to his house where officers recovered several exhibits, among them shoes and clothes. He will be processed and arraigned in court," DCI said in a statement on Sunday.

A wave of muggings and daytime thefts hit Nairobi in November as young criminal gangs terrorized city residents with unheard-of brazenness.

However, some of the victims were unfortunate as they tragically passed away after being stabbed.

The police issued a list of Nairobi's crime hotspots in response to the recent wave of crimes, advising the general people to stay away from them at all costs.
