Police detonated an improvised explosive device planted along the road in Kulun, Mandera county over the weekend.

A group of policemen on their way to the Bulla Hawa border discovered the explosive device when they noticed freshly dug soil and footprints on the road.

Police working close to the Kenya-Somalia border were told by the neighborhood that strange people had been seen in the vicinity early on September 17, Saturday, digging the site.

The team used detectors to find the bomb and securely detonated it. According to witnesses, the explosive device was large enough to kill people and cause destruction.

Police claim the explosive was planted by local al-Shabaab militants and was intended to harm a team utilizing the route.

According to authorities, the militants from al-Shabaab who planted the device in the Mandera incident intended to target government vehicles traveling along the route.

This incident is in light of allegations that the terrorist organization just graduated dozens that were prepared for a mission.

A picture released by the terror group reveals that the group’s top commanders, including Abu Mus'ab, Ali Mohamed Rage, and other leaders are all still present and active.

Three workers of a road construction company were hurt on July 14, 2022, when an explosive device struck the vehicle they were riding in in Mandera County.
Police and survivors reported that the incident happened in Dadach Qatarow, between Ires Kinto and Domog along Wargadud- Takaba Road.
