Police Name Resila Onyango as New Spokesperson

Resila Atieno Onyango is the new National Police Service spokesperson and is the second woman to hold the position after Zipporah Mboroki in 2014.

Resila, a Senior Superintendent, held the position of Deputy Director of Planning at the Office of the Inspector General of Police before to being promoted.

In 2021, she earned her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States.

She had previously worked for Interpol's regional office for East Africa as a criminal intelligence officer.

Resila has replaced Bruno Shioso, who was elevated to Commandant of the National Police Training Campus in Kiganjo.

Her predecessor Shioso has taken the place of the newly appointed Police IG Japheth Koome. Philip Ndolo, who served as the college's deputy commandant, has since been ordered back to the Nairobi Police Headquarters.

Japheth Koome is currently due undergoing vetting to become the new Inspector General of Police.

On Tuesday, Koome testified before the Senate Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations and the Committee of the National Assembly on Administration and Internal Security.

Koome hinted that he acquired his riches through his farming business, Sacco shares, and the houses he owned and disclosed that his net worth is Ksh 89,932,865.
