A military officer broke into treas on Monday 1st August after seeing the aftermath of the kapedo, Turkana county attacks.

The officer might have been overwhelmed after seeing how seven people were burnt beyond recognition by Pokot bandits at Napeitom, Kapedo in Turkana East.

The Seven people among them 5 children, were killed after bandits raided Napeitom village in Kapedo ward, Turkana East on Sunday night July 31, 2022. They torched 101 houses during the attack before escaping through Suguta Valley.

The Kapedo Killing was strongly condemned by Turkana county women representative Hon. Cecelia Asinyen Ng`itit on her officialTwitter account.

"I wish to condemn with the strongest terms possible the attack meted on the people of Napeitom village Kapedo/ Napeitom Ward Turkana East by the suspected Pokot bandits. I call upon all the security agencies to speed up the investigation and the perpetrators to face the law".

Rift Valley Regional Commander Mohammed Maalim confirmed the tragic incident, adding that the matter was being investigated. 

Maalim mentioned that inquiries into the unfortunate event have begun throughout the vast Turkana County.

The attack occurred despite the state's ongoing implementation of security measures in the conflict-torn region in response to a recurring escalation of bandit attacks and cattle robberies.

The police officer's response to the Kapedo attack, however, elicited a variety of contradictory responses from online users.
