The guns and bullets were found on Tuesday night prompting the Anti-Terror Police Unit to assume control of the investigation.

They contained six Walter pistols, nine escort magnum short guns, one Benelli short gun, five Guatro short guns, one Savage short gun, and a total of 565 rounds in various calibers.

According to the police, 25 pistol holsters, many magazine carriers, 30 slings, ten sniper torches, and a certificate of registration as a firearm dealer were reportedly discovered at the residence.

A firearm movement register and other firearm manuals were also discovered by the crew.

The group of armed officers were on a security mission to help an auctioneer retrieve Sh4.9 million, following a court order.

The officers were providing security to the auctioneer where they were to enter and take the claimed goods belonging to the tenant, Ken Lugwili of Vic. Technologies Limited.

According to the police, the auctioneers broke into the office and found one of the rooms to have a typical armuory where the weapons were stored.

Kilimani police DCI Stephen Tanki stated they took the recovered items to keep them safe while investigations are ongoing,

“It seems he was a firearms dealer but it was dangerous for him to leave this issue to reach this stage with such weapons therein yet all indications are the license had expired,” he said.

According to the police, they had not yet spoken with Lugwili about the discovery but Lugwili claimed he was unaware that his license had run out and was willing to cooperate with the cops.

According to the investigators, his license to handle and sell guns had expired in 2018.

“I am a licensed gun dealer but I didn’t realise the license had expired,” he said.
