Police Takes Action Against Man Captured Slapping a lady on UDA Rally

The Kenyan National Police Service has taken action against a man who was captured on camera slapping a woman during the United Democratic Alliance party {UDA} rally in Kisii county on Thursday 10th February.

The incident took place on Thursday where Kenya's Deputy President William Ruto had held the rally.

On Thursday, February 10, Ruto was joined by other Kenya Kwanza Leaders, including Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, at multiple rallies in the Kisii region.

According to the footage, which has gone viral on social media, the man was seen on camera beating a woman who appeared to have a different political viewpoint as she is heard chanting Azimio instead of repeating after DP Ruto who is heard saying Kenya kwanza.

However, following the unpleasant incident, one person involved in the incident has been captured and detained as a result of the public outcry. The individual will be interrogated by the police before any legal action is taken.

"Attention of the National Police Service is drawn to a disturbing and widely circulated video clip where a man is clearly seen assaulting a female during a  political rally in Kisii. Police in Kisii have acted on the incident and made an arrest of one male person," police stated.

The police also added that the culprit is currently in police custody.

"He is in police custody assisting with the investigation and will face court action once the investigation is completed."

Since then, law enforcement authorities have issued warnings to the public about activities that do not promote peace and harmony.

"NPS Wishes to advise the public to exercise restraint and accommodate divergence of opinion during the electioneering period to mitigate on instances of lawlessness and breach of the peace."
