President-elect Shares Details of His Phone Call to Uhuru

President-elect, William Ruto has revealed details of a phone call he made to President Uhuru Kenyatta today. On September 5, Ruto stated that he would call President Uhuru Kenyatta after the Supreme Court upheld his victory as the country's fifth president during his speech at his Karen residence.

Ruto revealed that they had a discussion on the just concluded General elections and the transition phase which is about to take place.

'We discussed the just concluded General Election and the transition as envisaged by our democratic tradition and practice," William Ruto stated.

Ruto had revealed during a press briefing that he had not spoken to his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta for months.

"I will shortly be putting a call to my good friend President Uhuru Kenyatta. I haven’t talked to him in months, but shortly I will be doing a call to him so that we can have a conversation on the process of transition,” Ruto stated.

On September 5, President Uhuru delivered a brief speech in response to the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the election results, but he did not mention or congratulate President-elect William Ruto by name.

"I want to wish well all who have won as they guide our country into the future. I thank you all for the opportunity to serve," Uhuru stated.

In his speech, Uhuru assured of a smooth transition to the next administration. 

On September 6, President Uhuru Kenyatta was spotted at Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate's residence in Karen, Nairobi.
