President Kenyatta Appoints Martha Koome as the New Chief Justice
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday 19th May appointed Martha Koome as Kenya’s next Chief Justice hours after approval of her nomination by the National Assembly.

President Uhuru has formally appointed Justice Martha Koome as Kenya’s Chief Justice.
The President made the announcement in a gazette notice dated May 19, 2021.
“I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint- Martha Karambu Koome to be the Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya.”
According to reports, it is said she will be sworn in before the close of business today.
