Entertainment joints and food places within the regions affected by the lockdown will not be rendering services to their sit-in clients unless otherwise directed.

"Operations of bars in Nairobi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kiambu and Kajiado is hereby suspended...," stated Kenyatta in reference to Kiambu, Nakuru, Kajiado, Machakos, and Nairobi.

According to President Kenyatta, the affected food outlets will only offer take-away services. At the same time, Kenyatta ordered a downward revision of curfew hours within the same counties,.

Effective tonight, the five counties will have their curfew starting from 8 pm, as opposed to the rest of 42 counties whose curfew remains at 10 pm.

Kenyatta further announced a nullification of current curfew passes, citing that many people were abusing the curfew regulations in the name of having permission.

Defending the criteria used to arrive at locking the five counties, Kenyatta stated how the five had become hotspots for the pandemic.

In the last few days, the nation has continued reporting a rising number of infections and deaths, prompting the government to intervene before the situation worsens.
