The President was received some minutes past 8 am by Deputy President William Ruto and host speakers Justin Muturi of the National Assembly and Senate’s Kenneth Lusaka.

Newly sworn-in President of the Supreme Court CJ Martha Koome is also present at the event.

The Head of State and his deputy met face to face on Thursday after months of avoiding each other.

The two leaders greeted each other on the elbow as they smiled at each other with their masks still on.

Uhuru and Ruto have only met twice face to face this year on February 15 during the burial of former minister Simeon Nyachae in Kisii and February 25 during a Cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to lead Kenyans in the prayers under the theme: “A Hopeful Future.”

The Attendants observed a minute of silence for departed legislature Paul Koinange who was the Chairman of the national prayer breakfast.

Other leaders in attendance include ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka, and Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi.
