A journey to Kisumu from Naivasha for President Kenyatta and his political ally Raila Odinga by the newly refurbished railway has been canceled.

This is according to close sources which quoted Statehouse Spokesperson Kanze Dena who stated that such will not be happening as earlier on stated.

Ms. Dena could not immediately state the cause, but only generally said that it was due to 'inevitable circumstances'. However, discreet sources pointed to engineering mishaps as the cause.

With the new development, the president and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta will be ushered at the Kisumu International Airport on May 30 (tomorrow).

Kenyatta is set to be in Kisumu county for an official visit of three days. During his stay, the president will commission completed government projects, inspect the ongoing ones, as well as launching new ones.

Of the major projects set for commissioning is Kisumu Port, the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, the Lake Basin Development Authority Mall, a ship at the dry dock, the marine school, and the Uhuru Business Park.

On day two, Kenyatta will be joined by his Burundi counterpart Evariste Ndayishimiye and first lady Angeline Ndayubaha. The two presidents will then pay visits to various projects in Kisumu and the larger Nyanza region.

At the same time, Margaret Kenyatta will be engaged in a couple of activities with her colleague Angeline Ndayubaha. The activity details of the two First Ladies will be shared in due time.

On June 1, 2021, President Kenyatta is set to grace the 58th Madaraka Day fete to be held in Kisumu County. Kenyatta has since urged all Kenyans to observe the Covid-19 set regulations in order to keep the pandemic at a bay.
