President Uhuru Mourns Ex-Nyeri Town MP, Major General (Rtd) Agoi

President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the deaths of ex- Nyeri Town MP Peter Gichohi Muriithi and Major General (Rtd) George Agoi.

Agoi died on Monday, while Muriithi passed away on Tuesday.

Uhuru remembered Muriithi as a politician and nationalist who championed equity and justice for all Kenyans.

The President said that the former MP leaves behind a great legacy of development in Nyeri Town and residents of the constituency will remember him for his transformational initiatives during his tenure as area MP.

"It is very unfortunate that we've lost the Hon PG Muriithi, a charismatic and steadfast leader who always stood for equity and justice for all Kenyans," Uhuru said.

Muriithi served as Nyeri Town MP between  2002 - 2007.

The President also mourned retired Major General George Nadida Agoi describing him as a true patriot and heroic public servant.

In his message of condolence, Uhuru noted that in his death, Kenya has lost an icon of humanitarian service.

"As a country, we will forever remember and cherish the sterling work he did when he led the multi-agency response team during the 1998 Nairobi terrorist attack," the President said.

Uhuru wished the families of Muriithi and Agoi comfort and strength as they mourn their deaths.
