According to Area Chief Evans Wamalwa, other kids who had gone to the river Nyangau to swim at around 4 o'clock discovered the boy's body laying nearby.

The boy, who had just started attending Kaloleni Primary School, was allegedly sexually assaulted before his death.

The school boy was discovered unconscious and battered on the ground. He also had blood coming out of his mouth, anus, and nostrils.

A woman reported a similar occurrence occurred two months prior where a gang of bhang smokers who hang out along the river sexually molested a 14-year-old child before killing him. The boy had gone to get water.

Residents claimed that parents who had criminally inclined kids were shielding them from legal action.

Samson Ojwang, the commissioner for Trans Nzoia County, promised that the group will face consequences.

He announced the beginning of an operation this week to purge Kitale and its surroundings of the deadly Bogi Mawe gang.

“Security agencies will from now henceforth begin a sting operation to root out the criminal gang Bogi Mawe harassing residents in the slum dwellings and their environs," he said.

Additionally, he cautioned parents of young people who had committed crimes that they would face consequences.

Some of the neighborhoods that have been severely affected by muggings, robberies, and rapes committed by the criminal gang are Tuwani, Matisi, Kipsongo, and Kisumu Ndogo.

The boy’s body was taken to the Kitale County morgue.
