Prof. Mike Kuria Appointed As CEO of CUE

Prof. Mike Kuria has been selected by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha to serve as the next CEO of the Commission for University Education (CUE).

“The Commission for University Education is pleased to welcome Prof. Kuria as the new CEO to continue with its important mandate of regulating and overseeing university education,” CUE said.

The appointment, according to the commission, followed a recruitment drive that drew 49 applications, 15 of whom were chosen for the final interviews.

“Prof Kuria is a multi-skilled and versatile leader and academic with extensive experience and expertise in quality assurance in higher education in Kenya and beyond,” the commission said.

His appointment will start on September 5, 2022, and it will last for five years before it can be extended.

Prof Kuria has succeeded Prof. Mwenda Ntarangwi whose tenure ends on September 4, 2022.

Prof Kuria has previously served 10 years as Daystar University's Director, Centre for Quality Assurance.

He was hired in 2016 to serve as the IUCEA's Deputy Executive Secretary

In 2012 he became the first Secretary-General of the East African Quality Assurance Network.
