Raiders Kill An Officer In A Police Station Attack

Two police officers were attacked while on duty; one got murdered and was pronounced dead on arrival after being rushed to Maralal County Referral Hospital. The other officer was left injured with bullet wounds on the stomach and the right hand. He is currently receiving medical attention and is in a stable condition.

The two were found by their colleagues, who came to the scene and found them lying on the floor with bullet wounds.

Henry Wafula, the area’s county commissioner, confirmed that the robbers managed to escape with the rifles.

"It occurred at Lodokojek police post about 40 South East of the station and reported through phone by the in-charge post No.220540 Sgt Benard Leleur that while at the shopping center which is about 100 meters from the post, he had heard the sound of gunshots from the direction of the police post,” read part of the police report.

The attack on the police station comes after the Rift Valley Commissioner, Mohammed Maalim, issued a shoot to kill order as a containment measure to the threat posed by the thugs in the area.

Among the incidents that led to the issuing of the order by the commissioner include the attack on Kapkusum village whereby the raiders attacked a Boda Boda rider and torched his motorbike and many other incidents that have claimed lots of lives in the area in the past few weeks.

Mohamed Maalim further added the attacks are likely to interrupt the candidates sitting for their KCSE examinations if not contained.
