Raila Announces Karua As His Running Mate
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, has today named his running mate to be the Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua.

Raila together with Azimio supporters arrived in preparation for the big announcement. Raila made the announcement just hours before the deadline set by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Earlier the announcement was to be made on Sunday during an Azimio rally in Kamkunji.
Raila announced Narc-Kenya party leader, Martha Karua as his running mate after two days of interviews in which the Azimio running mate selection panel chose Karua as one of the top three candidates for the job.
The announcement comes after a rigorous vetting process by a seven-member panel comprised of eminent people from various religious faiths and political parties, led by former Kwanza MP Noah Wekesa.
In his speech today, Raila also mentioned the positions of various leaders who would play a key role in his government come August 9 when he would have taken over the office of the president.
He appointed several other leaders to work under Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, including Kenneth Marende as Senate Speaker and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya as Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury.
Peter Munya has been appointed as the CS Agriculture and Chairman of the Kenya Productive Sector, while Ali Hassan Joho has been appointed as the CS for Lands.
Raila's running mate was announced just a day after his competitor, William Ruto of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, named Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate on Sunday.
