Raila's Running Mate Set to Be Chosen by the Azimio Coalition Advisory Panel by Thursday.
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Council Secretary-General Junet Mohammed says the Coalition's Advisory Panel for selecting the Presidential Running Mate will complete its mandate in 48 hours if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) sticks to its deadline of Thursday, April 28th.

On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the IEBC will hold a meeting with disgruntled members of political parties opposing the Thursday deadline at its Anniversary Towers headquarters in Nairobi.
The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition was back at IEBC Headquarters on Monday after its initial petition to have Raila Odinga delay naming his running mate until at least next month was denied.
"The chairman of the Commission was engaged in Parliament, during the public viewing of his excellency Mwai Kibaki. So, we have agreed that we are going to meet Tuesday at 10AM. But we met with other commissioners and made alot of progress," said Junet.
However, even as Azimio la Umoja One Kenya seeks an extension of the time allowed before revealing its Presidential running mate, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati invoked article 148 of the constitution in a statement to political parties, noting that "it is our considered view that by the time the party nomination window closes, presidential candidates should have nominated their running mates."
The commission's mandate includes requiring presidential and gubernatorial candidates to submit the names of their running mates by April 28, 2022.
"You see time is not adequate when your'e dealing with serious issues, but we shall see in the best reasonable manner possible... our meeting with IEBC tomorrow will determine what the future looks like," added Junet.
The newly formed Advisory Panel tasked with selecting Raila Odinga's running mate, according to Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Council Member and Secretary-General of the Executive Committee, will be operationalized by Thursday, April 28th deadline.
"The Panel is in place and once we meet with IEBC we will operationalize it. The Panel is ready to go to work," said Junet.
Professor Makau Mutua, a spokesman for the Azimio la Umoja presidential secretariat, claimed that the IEBC had set the dates of May 29th to June 6th, 2022, for clearing presidential candidates and their running mates before the IEBC chairperson.
William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance has not yet revealed the identity of its presidential running mate.
