Relief for Embu Residents As Police Arrest Deadliest Gang

This was made a success after an undercover team of detectives arrested the main suspects and recovered crucial exhibits, related to the crimes. The gang had been reported to cause a lot of robberies to the residents of the county.

Three main suspects were rounded up after a four-day sting operation that was conducted by detectives from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau, to put to an end the escalating crime wave that had bedeviled the town and its environs.

James Murathi alias Jimcarter, 39, Andrew Murathi alias Waaxy, 44, and Charles Mwaniki, alias Bush, 37, were arrested last evening and whisked to Siakago police station for further interrogation. The daring suspects had in August this year broken into a house Ishiara, Mbeere North sub-county, and terrorized its occupants before making away with assorted household goods, an unspecified amount of cash, and the victim’s motor vehicle.

This was after they disconnected the home’s CCTV cameras and took off with its recorder to avoid being unmasked.

Detectives have since recovered the vehicle and handed it back to its owner. Last month, the same gang armed with machetes, axes, and other crude weapons staged yet another attack at a homestead in Kanyuambora and made away with around Sh30,000 and 6 mobile phones.

The suspects are being interrogated before arraignment in court to answer to charges of robbery with violence contrary to section 203 and read with section 204 of the penal code.

Robbery and crime have increased in the country as police forces have stepped up to apprehend criminals and ensure that citizens live in safe environments.
