In Kericho, Uasin Gishu county, unidentified robbers broke into a pastoral residence at a Parish in Litein and made off with an undisclosed quantity of cash.

The police in Kericho are looking into the incident to identify and bring the suspects to justice.

According to a report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the criminals stormed into the priests' home at St. Mark Catholic Parish on Tuesday night when they were sleeping.

According to Parish Priest Fr Moses Langat, who reported the crime to the Litein Police Station, the suspects gained entry into the church and destroyed the tabernacle, a liturgical item used to contain the Eucharist."

Since then, officers have visited the area and reviewed the evidence to apprehend the culprits.

In another incident, a criminal ring suspected of committing robberies in five counties was busted.

The DCI announced on Twitter that nine individuals had been apprehended in connection with nine robberies with violence occurrences recorded across the country on various dates between May 18, 2022, and May 27, 2022.

Following an operation led by detectives working in the DCI Nairobi area, the thugs were apprehended in Kasarani's neighborhoods, Kamae and Lineka.

After a string of thefts reported at police stations across five counties, the detectives took up the investigation. The thugs in Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Embu, and Nakuru counties used a similar method of operation.

The intricate criminal network operating from Kasarani in Nairobi county was discovered by cops aided by crime analysts from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau.

Henry Mburugu, Dennis Mwai, Stephen Ngaruiya, Joe Njeru, and Kennedy Mawira were detained as the masterminds of the robberies.

They are all to face charges of robbery with violence when arraigned at Milimani Law Courts.
