The discrepancy in the Rongai parliamentary elections was confirmed by Nakuru County IEBC Manager Joseph Mele, who revealed that the voting had been temporarily suspended but did not provide further details.

"The IEBC headquarters in Nairobi will give further communications. That's all that I can say for now,” the IEBC Manager stated.

Many supporters of the candidates, including incumbent Raymond Moi of Kanu, Paul Chebor (UDA), and Luka Kigen (CCM), expressed their surprise at the blunder.

Some voters were also shocked as they waited in line only to be told by the polling officers that they would not be able to elect their preferred Member of Parliament.

Accordingt to a presidng officer at Mercy Njeri primary school, when they went to collect the ballot papers at 3 a.m.they noticed the alteration.

"We're told the papers had been mixed-up with others. Those are unconfirmed reports even officials of IEBC have not told us exactly what is the problem," the official stated.

"Other reports indicate the ballot papers had been taken to Kuresoi South or Kuresoi North. But those are reports I cannot independently verify as at now. I'm waiting for IEBC to give us further directions," an IEBC official stated.

In response to the suspension, Rongai Member of Parliament Raymond Moi claimed that it was a ruse to get rid of him, citing a similar incident in 2017.

He also stated that he will not vote in the other seats until the issue is resolved, noting that the Rongai ballot papers included candidates from Kuresoi South.
