Rotavirus attacks Mombasa

Mombasa county is reporting increasingly high cases of rotavirus cases with the latest case consuming 10 lives. Among these cases, the red cross have confirmed that 7 are male. Upto now, 10 children have also succumbed to the disease.

The virus is contagious with symptoms such as dirrhoea. The disease is hard on children under the age of five. 

The Mombasa boss said that out of the 75 reported cases at the Coastal General Teaching and Refferal Hospital, three have been confirmed. 

Out of the cases reported, three are from Kisauni County, two are from Nyali and one case was from Likoni Subcounty. 

According to Mahmoud Noor, the Kenya Red Cross Mombasa Chairman has claimed that some of the data is not clear of the origin, saying that some of the figures are cumulative from Mombasa county. Reports have it that at least 25,000 individuals have been affected indirectly.
