Sakaja has chosen Absa Bank Chief Operating Officer James Muchiri as his running mate.

Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Johnson Sakaja has announced James Njoroge Muchiri as his running mate on Tuesday, April 26.

Sakaja has chosen Absa Bank Chief Operating Officer James Muchiri as his running mate.

This comes as top political candidates race to meet the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's deadline for naming running mates (IEBC).

According to Sakaja, Muchiri was chosen after much deliberation and interviews with other people. He described Muchiri as the ideal candidate, citing his stellar performance in the business world.

Unlike many deputy governors who just sit and have tea and read newspapers, he brings a wealth of experience from the corporate world. He perfectly fits the bill of what we want to do in Nairobi,” Sakaja said.

Muchiri ran in the recently concluded United Democratic Alliance (UDA) primaries for the governorship of Nyandarua but lost to businessman Kiarie Badilisha.
