Despite receiving word from the Commission for University Education early Wednesday that Sakaja's degree certificate from Team University in Uganda had been cancelled, he argues the decision is without legal standing.

“The purported revocation of my credentials by the Commission for University Education (CUE) chairman is null and void, and politically instigated.” Sakaja said

According Sakaja, Prof Chacha Nyaigotti Chacha, the Chairman, was "coerced and intimidated to unjustly rescind recognition of accreditation that had been properly awarded."

Sakaja questioned why the chairman of CUE had drafted and signed the letter canceling his qualifications on the CEO's letterhead.

He further argues that the decision was reached without the commission meeting.

He claims that the commission certified the authenticity of his Team University diploma through Ugandan officials, and that the Nairobi County Returning Officer used the same documents to approve him to run for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

Sakaja also claims that when the EACC questioned the validity of his academic credentials, CUE confirmed that they were genuine and that he was qualified to run for office.
