Samia Suluhu Sworn in as the 6th Tanzania`s President

Tanzania's Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan has been sworn in as the new President of the Republic of Tanzania following the demise of President John Pombe Magufuli on Wednesday 17th due to heart complications.

Her swearing-in comes at a time Tanzanian Opposition leader Tundu Antiphas Lissu had expressed his disappointment towards the Tanzanian government that even now that President Magufuli was dead the government still could not expose the exact cause of his death.

According to Lissu, the late Magufuli died due to complications related to Covid 19  and not heart disease as was announced by Tanzania’s Vice President Samia Suluhu as of Wednesday 17th March 2021 at 6 p.m.

Samia announced that Magufuli had succumbed to heart disease he had been battling for 10 years.

However, Samia now becomes the country’s 6th President and first female President in Tanzania and East Africa.

Suluhu married  Hafidh Ameir, a retired agricultural officer, in 1978 and together they have four children; three sons and a daughter.
