Judiciary on the bench again, from Monday, for three days to interview contestants for the position of Supreme Court Judge.

The Judiciary to commence interviews for those eyeing the position of Supreme Court Judge at the Supreme Court Building on Monday, May 3 following the retirement of Justice Jacton Ojwang.

Only seven candidates, including Dr. Patrick Otieno Lumumba, will appear before the Judicial Service Commission for the interviews that will run for three days from May 3, 2021.

The contestants have taken 10 days after the concluded interviews for the Chief Justice which saw Lady Justice Martha Koome arise to the peak.

The process will commence with Judges Chitembwe Said and  Marete Njagi on Monday at 9:00 am and 11:00 am respectively.

Justice Mathews Nduma Nderi and Dr. Patrick Lumumba will face the panel on Tuesday at 9 am and 11 am respectively.

On Wednesday, Justices William Ouko, Joseph Sergon, and Ms. Alice Yano will finalize the interviews at 9 am, 11 am, and 12:30 pm.

Justice Chitembwe, who has 29 years of experience in the legal firm, is the current high court judge since 2009.

After the interviews, JSC will file a report and submit the name of the nominee for the position to the President for onward transmission to the Parliament for vetting.

Justice Jacton Ojwang had served the superior court for 16 years.
