According to the eyewitness the body of the infant was  found lying face down and naked, and partly eaten by dogs prowling the night.

The terrible incident had the villagers furious and perplexed as to why a mother would do such a heinous thing to a child.
However, it is unclear if the baby had been abandoned to perish in the cold.

An image obtained by this publication shows a portion of the body missing, which was allegedly consumed by dogs.

“This is a very shocking incident that we have witnessed in our village, and we condemn it as mothers,” said Makhonge village Elder Joan Wanyama.

Pastor Aggrey Cheng'wali, a resident of the community, also denounced the act and urged prompt investigations.

“I would wish to ask the government to come in, carry investigations and arrest the culprit,” said Pastor Cheng’wali.

However, Police officers from Webuye arrived at the scene and transfered the body to Webuye hospital mortuary as the search for the mother of the child begins.

This comes at a time, a nonviolent demonstration against the increased incidence of child abuse was held in Shinyalu, Kakamega county on Friday 29th July.

The group, which was made up of students and educators, asked locals to immediately report instances of child abuse to the police.
