Sonko to Appear Before the DCI Today

Former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko is scheduled to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) following his claims he and Interior Security PS Karanja Kibicho played a part to cause mayhem in 2017 Post-election Violence.

Sonko to Appear Before the DCI Today

Last Week, DCI Chief George Kinoti issued a summoning Sonko to appear before the head of Serious Crime Unit Kuria Obadia at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road at 8 a.m.

The move by the DCI came after the interior PS Karanja Kibicho recorded a statement with the DCI distancing himself from Sonko’s claims.

Sonko on a rally in Dagoretti South said he, Kibicho, and other “Deep State” played a part to cause the mayhem in 2017 when the NASA supporters were protesting in Nairobi.

However, according to a high court ruling by Judge Msagha, Sonko was ordered to avoid mentioning Kibicho’s name in accusations awaiting a determination on the suit.

Judge Msagha ruled, “an order of injunction is hereby issued restraining the former governor from uttering or publishing words concerning the plaintiff relating to allegations that the PS engages in criminal activities and he has an association with individuals involved in land grabbing and unlawful activities.”

Through Kibicho’s Lawyer Senior Counsel Fred Ngatia, the PS filed an application claiming Sonko’s remarks are false and they are intended to destroy his reputation.
