An altercation at the Norkopir Village Pub in Kitengela, Kajiado County, led to the stabbing and death of a final-year college student.

Jibril Abdullahi, the 26-year-old media student was attacked by an unidentified male adult when he was out with friends at the pub.

The two got into a quarrel before the middle-aged man pulled a knife, attacked the student, and stabbed him.

The student was rushed to the Kitengela sub-county hospital, a few kilometers from the scene of the stabbing, but he was confirmed dead on arrival.

"The OCS Kitengela, his team, and DCI personnel in Kitengela rushed to the hospital. The body of the deceased had a single stab wound on the back right-hand side," read part of the police OB 103/09/11/2022.

According to preliminary findings, the student had a romantic involvement with an Ethiopian bartender working at the same establishment.

"The assailant was heard claiming the student had an affair with his girlfriend. He warned him before a confrontation ensued and he stabbed him once inside the pub. The assailant was armed with a knife and a sword," said an eyewitness.

The police believe that the motive for the murder was because of a love affair because according to the deceased’s mobile phone, he was in frequent contact with the bartender.

Detectives who inspected the location found one knife that is thought to have been the murder weapon.

Relatives of the deceased want the matter to be investigated and the attacker brought to justice.

It is unfortunate we have lost an ambitious young man. We want police officers to expedite the investigation and the culprit brought to book," said a relative at the morgue.

The deceased will be laid to rest in Kitengela Muslim Cemetery later in the day.
