Sudan's health ministry reported "registering the first confirmed case of monkeypox in a 16-year-old student."

Director of epidemic control, Montaser Othman stated that although there had been other 38 suspected cases, no one had tested positive for the virus.

The federal and state health ministries were conducting an inquiry to identify the infection's origin in the country.

The World Health Organization(WHO) last month, July 23, designated monkeypox a public health emergency of global concern.

On Monday, India confirmed its first monkeypox death, Brazil reported its first monkeypox-related death last week, while Spain recorded two.

WHO also stated that over 18,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported by 78 countries, most of which were in Europe.

It claims that the monkeypox virus primarily affects Central and West Africa and causes a sickness with milder symptoms than smallpox.

Contact with bodily fluids, sores on the skin or on internal mucosal surfaces, such as those in the mouth or throat, respiratory droplets, and infected objects are all ways that human-to-human transmission can occur. Besides, animals can also spread the disease.
