Juventus Federico Chiesa celebrates his equalizer against Chelsea last night in the UCL group stage tie against current holders Chelsea

Juventus inflicted Thomas Tuchel only his 2nd UEFA defeat at the Blues as Juve beat Chelsea 1-0 late last night.

Similar to the weekend PL tie against City, the Blues rarely thwarted the Old Lady backline despite a lion share of possesion falling to them and other than a Lukaku save Szczęny had a comfortable tenure at goal last night. Two misplaced Kovacic passes led to counterattacks by the Serie A giants and while Chiesa fluffed the first opportunity set up by Rabiot the second chance was close to beating Edouard Mendy

The Blues were made to pay the price and 10 secinds into the 2nd period, Rabiot flicked a SzczÄ™ny long ball off to Federico Bernadeschi 2ho found Chiesa and the 23 year-old Italian made no mistake firing it past Mendy in goal.

Acquisition of Lukaku was meant to slove Chelseas attack deficiency but his chances were nullified by a dominant Juve midfield and a fearless Leonard Bonucci.

Tuchel tried to spice things up by bringing on Trevor Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson Odoi and Ross Barkley but to no avail as Juve remained impact. The result means Italian woos continueas Chelsea have only won once in 8 games against an Italian side since the turn of the century.
