Super Karim at it again as Frenchman brace sends 'Los Blancos' past group stage.
Real Madrid's Karim Benzema celebrates his equalizer with Vinicíus Junior in the UEFA Champions League second leg group stage tie against Shaktar Donetsk. The Frenchman bagged a brace as his strike counterpart Vini was involved in both goals.

Following the last legs' exquisite Real Madrid showing, Shaktar Donetsk were off to prove their doubters wrong and avoid back-to-back humiliation at the hands of the Spanish Giants. Shaktar were off to an electric start as Alan Patrick came within inches of granting the visitors the lead but his effort rattled off the crossbar.

Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 14th min following a mountain of errors by the home team as Vinicìus Junior stole possession and squared it to Karim Benzema and you know the rest, the Frenchman tapped it home marking Real Madrid's 1000th European goal.

Shaktar pulled one back before the break as Fernando slammed the ball past Thibaut Courtois after a brilliant chested pass by Alan Patrick.

The goal gave Roberto De Zerbi's men the needed boost as they looked to repeat their 2020 antics where they scrapped a 3-2 win over 'The Merengues' however Madrid squashed any chances of a repeat with them adding their second goal of the day through yet another Benzema-Vinicius link up as the Frenchman slotted his second for the day as he was teed up by Vinicius who grabbed his second assist of the day and grant maximum points to the La Liga leaders. This marked yet another exhilarating display by the attacking duo as their chemistry since the start of the campaign has been tremendous.

The victory sees Madrid maintain their brilliant record of six victories in nine matches against Ukranian opposition. Meanwhile Shaktar mat have lost the match but leave with their heads held high after an impressive showing against the 13- time Champions.
