Swearing in of 34 Judges Underway
The swearing on of the 34 judges that were appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday 3rd is currently underway at the statehouse Nairobi.
Christine Juma This exercise comes at a time earlier on Friday, June 4th Katiba institution moved to court to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta`s decision on appointing 34 new judges and dropping 6 Judges in a move that was termed as cold war-related to the ruling of Building Bridges Initiative as Null, void, and unconstitutional.
According to the Katiba Institute, it stated that cherry-picking undermines the judiciary and its independence.
However, the petition filed on Friday morning, just a day after the President gazetted the appointments.
The institute was seeking to have the appointments revoked.
