Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has called on the government to take registration of persons exercise deeper to the grassroots.

The Governor says, the Ministry of Interior and National Coordination need to reach for more youths who are yet to get National Identity Cards (IDs).

"When we take registrations to the grassroots, we shall be able to get youths who finished schools but have not yet acquired identity cards," said Mandago who also expressed concerns over the government’s decision to suspend a program in which students could be issued with the IDs while still in secondary school once they reach the eligible age of 18 years.

Speaking in Soy Sub-County, the governor further regretted that a number of youths were not ready to take up life-changing opportunities like jobs, because they miss crucial documents.

He named a recent initiative by his administration to take youths from Uasin Gishu county to Finland for job opportunities as one of the areas many missed out because they had no IDs and passports.

"Our youths should be ready with Identity Cards and travel documents because we need to diversify and look for employment opportunities in and out of the country," Mandago said.

The Governor also called on parents to ensure their Children acquire requisite documents that places them well for opportunities.

These key documents are IDs, Passports and Driver's license.
