A group of 21 teenagers was discovered dead in a bar following a night of drinking. All the victims were teenagers with the youngest being a 13-year-old girl. There were a number of survivors as well, some of whom were undamaged while others received medical attention.

Before the release of the final report, a forensic team spokeswoman declined to comment on any part of the inquiry.

"Autopsies have been performed on the 21 deceased young people and samples have been forwarded to a lab... for examination," the provincial administration of the Eastern Cape stated in a statement.

According to a statement released by the national police force's Eastern Cape division, the inquiry into the deaths of 21 children at Enyobeni Tavern is "still ongoing," and an official report would be made available to the public and family members "at the proper time."

Investigators have been searching the location for information about the teenagers’ actual causes of death. Prior to that, authorities had ruled out a stampede, stating that they were likely accidentally poisoned by anything they ingested, drank, or smoked.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak to the media, did, however, say that the investigation was focused on the idea that the young people were gassed to death in a poorly ventilated ground-floor chamber.

He stated that tests were being conducted to ascertain whether carbon monoxide poisoning, possibly from burning propane gas or another petroleum product within the bar, was the cause of the fatalities.

The source claimed that when the bodies were dissected, a weird chemical scent emanated from them, albeit it was unclear which chemical it was. He stated that police were checking all of the appliances in the venue.

Local media outlets reported on Tuesday that several of the victims were admitted to the hospital complaining of symptoms like back discomfort and chest trouble.

A few irate neighborhood residents were seen protesting outside the bar, which had its license canceled on Monday, on television.
