The request to hold the minor for a further 14 days was granted by Kikuyu Senior Resident Magistrate Catherine Mburu.

The minor came before Magistrate Mburu on Monday, but no charges were brought against her. The case was heard on camera due to the suspect’s age.

Detectives working under Kikuyu sub-county Criminal Investigations Officer George Muriuki, have already started the process to exhume the remains of two of the four victims for postmortem assessment.

The bodies of the other two children underwent postmortem examinations before burial.

According to a spokesperson for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Cliff Machogu, the girl would face mental and age evaluation tests during the 14 days allotted to the police.

Machogu added that unless the minor confesses in front of a Senior Superintendent of Police, her purported confession is not admissible in court.

The two weeks period is to allow the DCI to continue with investigations into the matter. Police have also started looking into claims that the parents would be the next on the murder list.

The suspect will stay in a detention facility until the matter is mentioned on September 12th.

The accused is said to have committed the murders between July and September of last year, with the most recent killing occurring in August of this year.

The minor, whose name is being withheld for legal reasons, claimed in her signed confession at the DCI office in Kikuyu Police station that she experiences an odd sense of strength while carrying out the murders and feels excited after the terrifying acts.
