The 95th Academy Awards Set To Take Place On March 2023

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) will present the 95th Academy Awards ceremony, which will honor films released in 2022.

The AMPAS has granted KFC official recognition to establish an Oscars Selection Committee comprising Industry Associations & Guilds to submit applications for the Best International Feature Film Award on behalf of Kenyan producers.

The committee may also submit a documentary or animation to compete for the Best Documentary and Best Animation Feature Awards in addition to the Best International Feature Film.

KFC is accepting film submissions with the deadline being September 14th.

The Oscars require all films to have a 7-day mandatory theatrical run in their country of origin in order to qualify, therefore submissions start early to meet this requirement.

The Kenyan film The Letter was proposed by KFC to the Oscars Selection Committee for the 94th award presentation last year, however, the Japanese film Drive My Car ended up taking up the Best International Film Award during the 94th Academy Awards.

Every year, the Oscars selection committee selects one film to represent Kenya in the awards.
