President Uhuru Kenyatta has reaffirmed the government's resolve to continue implementing initiatives aimed at aligning Kenya's military training with current security and civilian requirements.

The government will continue to align KDF training with security requirements. Says Uhuru.

The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) capabilities, according to the Head of State, are based not just on superior military gear but also on skilled staff.

The President, who is also the Kenya Defense Forces' Commander-in-Chief, addressed on Thursday at the Kenya Air Force's Laikipia Air Base in Nanyuki, where he commissioned the Kenya Defense Forces' Aviation Centre of Excellence (ACE).

ACE is a cutting-edge military training facility for Kenya Air Force pilots and technical professionals, established by the Kenya Defense Forces as part of the country's continuing defense and security modernization.

“This academy shows that our focus is not on hardware alone. Any modern and progressive military must lay emphasis on quality training, which is a critical force multiplier for mission attainment,” President Kenyatta said.

The acquisition of contemporary training aircraft and the development of the Aviation Centre of Excellence, according to the Head of State, would assist the KDF and other government agencies in developing a pool of trained experts capable of performing a variety of aviation operations.

I challenge the Centre to tap into the East African Community and beyond by way of offering aviation training. This should not be limited to security sector actors but should be extended to civilian entities such as Kenya Airways and other airlines, who are also in critical need of highly qualified aviators,” Kenyatta said.

These efforts will ensure that our defense forces are well-equipped to fulfill their constitutional mandate of guaranteeing national security. Moreover, these enhanced capabilities will extend Kenya’s ability to support disaster mitigation efforts in Kenya and regionally,” the head of state added.

The president also commended the Kenya defense forces (KDF) for their security efforts in the country.

We are immensely proud of all those who serve in the front lines in various missions and operations, especially our wounded warriors who bear the scars, seen and unseen of service to our Republic,” the president commended the KDF.
