Raila Odinga's sister Dr. Wenwa Akinyi Odinga has been appointed to be a board member of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI). This has been seen as president Uhuru's move to cool down the rift of the handshake after being accused of supporters' incitation through police brutality during the ended by-election.
