The Highlanders finished their weekend in style with a clam and composed 42-27 win against Melbourne Rebels at Leichhardt Oval stadium in Sydney taking to three wins in three games.

The home side began the match with a high note with Aaron Smith’s chip to his advancing defenders who managed to outdo Rebels’ fullback George Worth to allow center Michael Collins scored the first try with two seconds played.

They kept displaying their dominance on attack leading to a second try in the 16th minute thanks to Smith’s exceptional hands and winger Patelesio Tomlinson’s rhino-charge try to the touchline and a neatly taken conversion to make it 14-0.

The Rebels managed to respond in the 27th minute with a well-worked try that developed from the backline’s quick hands and deceptions in the visitor’s 22m to flying Marika Koroibete for an opening score.

It was not done for the away side who managed to add a second try before the halftime whistle to take the scores to14-12. They immediately from where they had left with Worth’s 49m shock try before being reduced to 14 men from a silly error by hooker Jordan Uelese.

An advantage to the Highlanders, they called for scrimmage from the foul which saw the officiating referee Paul Williams give the visitors a direct penalty try after they forced their way to the try line.

The Highlanders became unstable leading to a smuggled try by lock Josh Dickson from a lineout error by scrumhalf Joe Powell, a well-worked try from Nareki’s chip to the winger before being reduced to 14 men in the 60th minute.

Rebels tried to respond with scores from Matt Gibson and Koroibete could not mend the damage caused after The Highlanders crossed over the line for a sixth try by Billy Harmon with their chance for bonus points spoilt from a knock on the ball by smith just on the finish line.
