In our current society today alcohol is the most abused mood altering substance in Kenya amongest the youth.

According to a study by NACADA Authority 14 percent of Kenyans aged between 15and 64 currently use alcohol.

However to Kenyan culture aged were the one drinking during ceremonies long time ago because at this age critical thinking has gone unlike the youth of today who are still young who still need to have families and build their future .

Research has illustrated a strong correlation between regular drinking and lowered brain brain volume ,indicating a mental decline. Even in moderate amounts alcohol can damage parts of the brain involved in memory, learning and critical thinking.

Heavy drinking can inhibit decision making skills leading to risky behavior of the youth and sometimes embrassment .

Moreover, research indicates that the earlier a person starts drinking the more likely will develop serious problems with alcohol or drug addiction later in life.
