While speaking at the State House Nairobi, President Uhuru said he and ODM leader Raila Odinga are determined to leave a united country.

“My brother (Raila) and I are focused on leaving a legacy where young people have steady jobs and are able to access basics needs and become a country where all citizens are proud to be Kenyans,” he said

President Uhuru Kenyatta restated that he was focused on initiating projects whose end goal would be to end hunger, ignorance, and disease and set the country on a path that will take the people forward.

However, the President pointed out that for far too long politics of division had affected the country from achieving its development goal, therefore, calling for him and Raila to come together.

“Kenya is about all of us. Kenya cannot succeed without all of us. It needs all of us. This is to me, is the spirit of the handshake. If it was about two individuals we would not have reached where we are," he added.
